On Friday, June 5, Dr. Jennifer Stevenson shared her wisdom and experience in a small ensemble masterclass open to everyone in the community. Three groups of Bend Pops musicians performed pieces, and Dr. Stevenson guided the groups through different approaches and exercises to deepen musicians’ connections to the piece, knowlege of the era or conditions in which it was originally composed, details of the style, and encouraged exploration of greater musicality and expression. Everyone enjoyed the class immensely, and came away having learned something!
