Bend Pops, along with the Cascade Horizon Band, hosted a lecture by Central Oregon teacher, performer, and music researcher Jon Harnum on Thursday, September 21. The lecture covered Harnum’s research into the “practice of practice” — that is, what techniques make the most of a musician’s time and effort in practicing music repertoire. Musicians learned a bit about the theory behind how the brain learns music through various techniques, and got specific practice habit recommendations to put into use.
The lecture was open to all musicians and school students of all ages and had free admission, and was held in the Mountain View High School Auditorium in Bend.
